-
-
The Mille Bornes window is divided into several sections:

-
-
Hand area: There are two hand areas, one for you and one for
- your opponent, which show the cards in the player's hand. Naturally, you
- can only see the backs of your opponent's cards (but see the description
- of the "Cheat" menu below). Each player is dealt six cards to begin with,
- then players take turns drawing a card from the deck (this is done
- automatically), and either playing or discarding a card.

-
-
Play area: To play a card, drag it to your play area. You may
- drag any card (including hazards) to any place on your play area, and it
- will be moved to the proper spot. You may also double-click (or
- double-tap) a card to play it. The background of your play area is
- highlighted (green on color machines) when it is legal for you to
- move.

-
-
Deck area: This area holds both the deck and the discard pile.
- To discard a card, drag it to the deck area. If you're using a mouse, you
- may also double-click the right mouse button to discard a card. After
- each hand, click (or tap) the deck to begin the next hand.

-
-
Progress area: This area shows how many miles you and your
- opponent have gone. The total miles are displayed for each ("P" for
- player, "C" for computer). On larger displays, a histogram shows your
- progress as well. There is a black bar through the scales at the 700 mile
- mark.
